Suspicious fires at Woodgrove Centre

Two fires have been deliberately set in the mens washroom at the food court in the Woodgrove Centre. Both have caused extensive smoke,water and fire damage.

Home on Summit Drive broken into

On Wednesday May 8th a home in the 500 block of Summit Drive was broken into and numerous electronics were taken.

Lone house on Newcastle Island broken into

On Thursday May 9th the only house situated on Newcastle Island was broken in to.

Canada wide warrant

A Canada wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of 35 year old David Robert LAWSON for breach of parole.

Theft of dirtbikes

On Sunday Apri l7th three dirt bikes were stolen from the backyard of 424 Bruce Ave. Two of the bikes were later recovered but the persons responsible have not been identified.

Theft of tools from utility trailer

A utility trailer parked on Rockwood Place, off of Westwood Rd was broken into on Thursday April 11th and a variety of tools were stolen.

Would be robber picks wrong person to rob

A male who attempted to rob a jogger on Sunday April 14th might want to re-think his career path after the jogger successfully defended himself using his marial arts training to thwart the attack and the robber was last seen hobbling away empty handed.

$100,000 dollar theft from work site

Sometime on Sunday March 31 thieves broke into a construction site on South Forks Rd(near the new water treatment plant)and made off with almost $100,000 dollars of tools and equipment.

Couple robbed at Sway Lana lagoon

A couple were robbed and threatened with a baseball bat on Sunday February 17th at approximately 9 PM while walking through Sway Lana lagoon.

Purses stolen from seniors

On Friday June 15th at approximately 12:25PM two purses were stolen by a male while the vehicle was parked at the gas pumps of the Mary Ellen Drive Coop gas bar.

Youth assaulted by three males

On Saturday June 2 at approximately 2 AM a young male was assaulted then robbed by three males. The incident took place on a trail that connects Northfield Rd to Rosstown Rd.

Two attacks on females in the past three weeks remain unsolved and the Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in solving them.

Cat burglar interupted

On Monday February 13 at 1 AM female residing at 1480 Boundary Crescent was awoken to a male standing in her room. The male then ran out through her sliding glass door.

On Tuesday October 18th between 7-8AM, the Green Store located at 256 Wallace St was broken into.

Male exposes himself at Collier dam

On Sunday October 16th at 1PM a male exposed himself to a female walking through Collier dam.

Quizno's at Country Club Mall robbed

Quizno's located near Save On Foods at Country Club Mall was robbed on Sunday October 9th.

Cutting room hair salon broken into

The Cutting Room hair salon located on Ross Rd was broken into early Monday morning October 3rd.

Young girl approached by male in car

On Thursday September 29 at 2:40PM a 12 year old girl was approached by a male in a car while she biked home from school on Sun Valley Drive.

Two break and enters interrupted by home owners

Two break enters, one in the central area September 2nd and the othe in Lantzville on September 7th were interrupted by home owners.

Shoplifter pulls knife then flees

A male shoplifter pulled a knife after being confronted and then fled the area.

ATM stolen from A&W

On Thursday August 4th thieves broke into the A&W located at 1815 Bowen Rd and made off with an ATM.

At 5:12 AM on the morning of Friday August 5th , Beaufort Pizza,located at 1438 Bowen Rd was broken into and a cash register stolen.

South end hit hard by taggers

From Friday August 12 to Saturday August 13th vandals and taggers in the south end of Nananimo and taggers were busy hitting a number of businesses ,homes and signs.

Howard Johnsons robbed

On Wednesday August 2 at 4:15 PM the Howard Johnsons Harborside motel located at 1 Terminal Ave was robbed.

Home on Cedar Rd broken into

On Tuesday July 12th a home located in the 1800 block of Cedar Rd was broken into.

Suspicious shed fire

On July 9th a shed located at 432 Howard Ave was set on fire and investigators are looking for those responsible.

Armed robbery of convenience store

The Supreme convenience store located at 2101 Boundary Ave was robbed at gun point on Sunday July 10th at 6:10PM.

Local high schools targeted by vandals

On June 17th NDSS and Dover High were both targeted by vandals after glue was poured into door locks at NDSS and school initials were carved into playing fields at Dover High.

Three mountain bikes stolen

Three high end mountain bikes were stolen from the back of a pick up parked at Westwood Lake

Child luring incidents in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP are advising the public to be vigilant and on the look out after several more incidents of child luring have been reported..The suspect male has on different occasions attempted to entice the girls into his truck.

Public assistance needed in solving arsons

Several suspcious fires deemed to be arson remain unsolved and need the public's assistance in solving

The Payless gas bar located at 1702 Bowen Rd was robbed at gun point yesterday afternoon.

Soccer net lite on fire at Harry Whipper park

Just after 1 AM on Saturday January 19th a soccer net was lite on fire at Harry Whipper park. The park is located off of Hammond Bay Rd and near the Nanaimo Gospel church.

At approximately 1:17 AM on Saturday January 19th City of Nanaimo Fire and Rescue crews were called to attend Harry Whipper park for a report that the soccer net, located in the park had been set on fire. A witness to the incident said six youth were seen running from the area and are also believed repsonsible for attempting to set the contents of a garbage can on fire at the park.

The six youth were last seen running southbound along a footpath that runs parallel to the soccer fields.
