Fraudulent service repairman targets seniors

The public and especially seniors are advised to be aware after an incidents involving a fraudulent service repair man going door to door in north Nanaimo.
The incident occured on Wednesday October 17th and involved a male going door to door in the Dunster Rd area who was passing himself off as a reputable furnace repair man.
The suspect male knocked on the front door to the home of a elderly female and presented a business card to her. The card was from an exsisting service company in Nanaimo that is recognized with the Better Business Bureau. The male told her he was offering estimates for work on furnaces and convinved her to allow him into her home. He the duct work around the furnance and after ten minutes he told her she needed several hundreds of dollars of repairs. He then asked for payment up front and she gave him a cheque to cover off the work. The male never returned.
The suspect male is desribed as being a large white male with brown hair and was driving a large white truck.
